Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 25, 2026

Who We Are

Camo Sisters is a Maryland-based digital content business. We create and sell educational resources — ebooks and PDF guides — designed for women veterans. We are a sole proprietorship operated by one person, and we take your privacy seriously.

If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your information, reach out any time: team@camo-sisters.madethis.app

What Information We Collect

We collect only what we need to run this business:

  • Email address — if you sign up for our email list, we collect your email address. You can unsubscribe at any time by contacting us at team@camo-sisters.madethis.app.
  • Purchase information — when you buy something, we collect your email address and optionally your name (if provided at checkout). Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe on behalf of the MadeThis platform. We never see or store your card number or payment details.
  • Analytics and site usage — we use PostHog, a product analytics service, to understand how the site is used. PostHog collects information such as pages you visit, products you view, session duration, and interaction events (e.g., clicks on “Buy Now” buttons). PostHog uses cookies and assigns a unique session identifier to track activity during your visit. We use this data to improve our products and site experience. PostHog does not collect your name, email, or payment information unless you are signed in to an account.
  • Cookies — we use cookies to enable analytics tracking via PostHog. These cookies store a session identifier and help us understand site usage patterns. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some site features may not function properly if you do.

We collect only the minimum data necessary to fulfill your order and operate the Site, consistent with Maryland’s Online Data Privacy Act (MODPA) data minimization requirements.

We do not collect sensitive health or medical information. If you choose to share personal details with us in a support email, we use that information only to respond to you.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Fulfill your order and deliver your digital products
  • Send product updates or new resources, if you opted in to our email list
  • Respond to support questions or requests
  • Improve our products and site over time

We do not use your information for anything you would not expect given why you gave it to us.

What We Do Not Do

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Period.

We do not send you unsolicited emails unless you signed up for our list. Every email list message includes an unsubscribe link.

Health-Related Information

Camo Sisters is a peer-education platform. We do not collect, store, or process protected health information (PHI) as defined under HIPAA.

However, if you contact us for support and voluntarily share health-related information in your message (such as symptoms, diagnoses, or experiences), we treat that information with heightened care:

  • We use it only to respond to your specific inquiry
  • We do not share it with third parties
  • We do not retain support email content beyond what is necessary for customer service resolution
  • We do not add health-related information to any marketing database
  • Mental health information shared with us is never sold to third parties.
  • We do not process sensitive mental health disclosures beyond resolving your direct inquiry.
  • If we ever intend to process sensitive data for any other purpose, we will obtain your explicit consent first, in compliance with the Maryland Online Data Privacy Act (MODPA).

If you prefer not to share health details by email, you are not required to do so. Contact us at team@camo-sisters.madethis.app.

MODPA Compliance

Under the Maryland Online Data Privacy Act (MODPA), mental health information is classified as “sensitive data.” Camo Sisters does not sell, share, or process sensitive personal data for targeted advertising purposes. If you voluntarily disclose mental health information in a support email or inquiry, that information is used solely to respond to your request and is never sold or shared with third parties for any purpose.

We will obtain your explicit consent before processing sensitive data in any manner beyond responding to your direct inquiry.

Maryland Residents — Your Privacy Rights (MODPA)

If you are a Maryland resident, the Maryland Online Data Privacy Act (MODPA) gives you certain rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access — you can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction — you can ask us to correct inaccurate information.
  • Deletion — you can ask us to delete your personal information.
  • Opt out of sale — we do not sell your personal data. If that ever changes, you will have the right to opt out.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at team@camo-sisters.madethis.app. We will respond within 45 days.

Camo Sisters currently operates below the Maryland Online Data Privacy Act (MODPA) threshold of 35,000 consumers. As the business grows, we are committed to implementing full MODPA-compliant procedures — including data minimization practices, privacy impact assessments, and consumer rights workflows — upon reaching the applicable threshold.

How We Protect Your Information (PIPA)

In compliance with the Maryland Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), we maintain reasonable security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse. Our data is stored on secure third-party platforms (see below).

If we ever become aware of a data breach affecting your information, we will notify you as required by Maryland law.

Data Breach Response

In the event of a data breach involving your personal information, Camo Sisters will:

  • Investigate and contain the breach promptly upon discovery
  • Notify affected individuals as required by Maryland law
  • Report the breach to the Maryland Attorney General within 45 days, as required by Maryland’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), if the breach affects Maryland residents’ personal information
  • Cooperate fully with regulatory authorities

If you believe your information has been compromised, contact us immediately at team@camo-sisters.madethis.app.

Data Retention

We retain purchase records (name, email, order details) for as long as required for business and tax purposes. We do not keep your information longer than necessary.

Email list subscribers can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, or by emailing us directly. Once unsubscribed, we will stop sending you messages. You can also request deletion of your email from our list entirely.

Third-Party Services

We use a small number of trusted third-party services to run this site:

  • MadeThis — the platform that powers our storefront checkout flow, email delivery, and digital file delivery. MadeThis processes checkout requests and passes order information (email, name if provided, order ID) back to us for fulfillment.
  • Stripe — handles payment processing. Stripe has its own privacy policy: stripe.com/privacy
  • PostHog — our analytics and product usage tracking service. PostHog collects site usage data (pages visited, products viewed, session data) and sets cookies to track sessions. PostHog privacy policy: posthog.com/privacy
  • Convex — our database and backend infrastructure. Convex privacy policy: convex.dev/privacy
  • Vercel — our website hosting provider. Vercel privacy policy: vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy

We choose service providers who take data security seriously. We do not share your information with any additional third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

This site uses cookies to provide analytics and improve user experience. Specifically:

  • PostHog cookies — PostHog sets cookies (prefixed with “ph_”) to track session activity, identify returning visitors, and measure site usage. These cookies store a session ID and a unique identifier but do not contain your name, email, or personal information.
  • Essential cookies — we use a minimal authentication cookie for admin access only (admin_token), which is not set for public visitors.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies may affect site functionality, including analytics tracking. For more information on how PostHog uses cookies, visit posthog.com/privacy.

Children

This site is intended for adults. Camo Sisters is not directed at anyone under 18 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we will do our best to let you know — either by posting a notice on the site or by sending an email to subscribers.
